As may be observed, the entries range from civil to electrical to mechanical to systems engineering.  Each of these projects could be the program for an entire meeting—but we will be getting all seven in one evening.  Our panel of judge, the presidents of the five PSPE chapters in the Delaware Valley, will have their hands full in choosing the winner of the awards—but in a sense their job is but secondary—ALL of these entries are winners—and we and the other inhabitants of the Delaware Valley are also the winners of Outstanding Engineering Achievement.

November Meeting
continued from Page 1

Our November meeting featured our own Leonard Bernstein, P.E., F.NSPE.  As President of the state PSPE, Len was asked to talk on the topic, “What can a P.E. License and PSPE do for you?”  However, since most attendees at the meeting were licensed members of PSPE, Len decided to discuss new initiatives that his administration is putting together.  Some of the initiatives Len talked about included PSPE working more closely with the State Registration Board and establishing an Education Committee to assist with the development of standards for continuing education units/credits (CEU).  As you may know, the State may mandate requirements of CEU’s for renewal of P.E. licensing and PSPE should be in the forefront of setting the standards.  Another initiative of major concern is the financial structure of the society with the proposed unified dues structure.  The State PSPE is also trying to formalize financial procedures at the chapter level.  Connected with chapter development, Len plans to establish PSPE leadership manual for new chapter officers.  The State society proposes to be more active n the legislature department, with pending bills on home inspection license and continuing education requirement.  These issues generated a lot of questions from the largest audience we have had at our chapter meetings for a long time.  Twelve (12) past presidents were in attendance as this was Past President’s Night.  Six guests, including a candidate for the Engineer of the Year, Dr. Dianne Dorland, were also in attendance.
